Myopia

Myopia is the most common visual defect of the eyewhere light focuses in front, instead of on the retina, as it is normal. The main symptom is blurred perception of distant objects.Without any correction, a myopic person has a blurred distance vision, while far vision appears normal. Myopiaisoften first detected during childhood and is commonly diagnosed between the earlyschool years when child’s visual needs extend to distant vision.

Diagnosis.  

A diagnosis of myopia is typically confirmed during an eye examinationperformed by a specialized doctor who is an expert in refractive conditions of the eye, the optometrist, or by an ophthalmologist.

Treatment: Myopia can becorrected with the following methods

  • Eyeglasses using negative divergent powers (negative corrective lenses)
  • Spherical contact lenses
  • Laser Refractive surgery
